Search engines are king; they demand that to be found the search terms that are used by their users are found within your content. This is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
Take away a websites images, fancy headlines, bold, coloured and underlined text and what are you left with? The copy!.
Creating content for SEO purposes isn't always easy and for many website owners it is in fact a huge chore!
And it's easy to see why!
You need to research your market to try to determine what keywords they might put into a search engine; understanding this behaviour is one of the biggest challengers.
Once you know what keywords to use, you then have to place these subtly within your content; use too few and you won't be picked up by the search engines, too many and you'll be penalised for spamming!
You also need to make your content work well, it's no point driving traffic to your webpage if once there you have spent so much time trying to get the search phrases into your copy that it just looks silly, no-one will buy from you!
Content for SEO purposes has to be carefully crafted, you have to ensure firstly that it makes sense to any human visitor that lands on the page, then you have to ensure that your copy and pages is picked up by search engines and ranked high.
Importance of the right keywords
Do a Google search for "Rufferler 2000" and you'll find that our own pages are the only ones listed in the search results - brilliant! Well not really, the only problem is that in their normal day to day lives no-one will use "Rufferler 2000" as a search term, so it's pretty much pointless except for using it as this example.
It is critically important that you choose the right keywords to use for your content, research it, research it then research it again.
We had a campaign after we first launched around the theme "If you want to be heard", and on Google we still rank high for this phrase. Check it out here.
