Well at least most businesses seem to think they are, which isn't a bad thing either!
As part of it's creative copywriting process, Yorkshire based ReadCopy always asks clients which personality they believe their brand most closely matches, "This allows us to write engaging copy in the most appropriate tone for our client and ensures that we sell our clients company, products or services to their target market with greater success." explains Andrew Scaife, one of the directors of ReadCopy.
And the personalities most often selected by businesses today are comedic ones!
Recent funnymen names have included Billy Connolly, Rob Brydon, Stephen Fry and Bradley Walsh; it also seems that Monty Python stay popular in the British culture with both Michael Palin and John Cleese both appearing within the last 12 months.
It's not only the funny people on our screens that inspire modern businesses, but also Hollywood hard men as the likes of Steve McQueen, Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson have being recently cited by clients.
There is an important business lesson in all this.
Whilst it's a varied field of comedy talent that businesses believe that they are business is tough out there for many right now and no laughing matter; but the importance of seeing your own brand as a real personality cannot be underestimated.
"All businesses need to project who they are and what they stand for", continued Andrew, "seeing your brand as a real person helps businesses see how they need to behave and talk to their market, and is an important first step in building a strong brand to help weather current poor trading conditions."
